  • Welcome!

Hello there, welcome to my blog! My name is Stephanie McDonald and I am the face behind the lens here at Patchwork Photography. This is where I share my most recent sessions and a little about my own life. So kick back and enjoy :)

Photography is part of who I am, not just what I do and I can't get enough of it! My favorite subjects to photograph are newborns. I also love to photograph maternity sessions, families and children of all ages.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you come back often to enjoy the images.

March project 52 + Our Forever Neverland

So I had been following along with a project 52. I loved that I was getting more photos of my own family, but struggling a bit since each week had a specific theme. Though having a theme helped challenge me a bit, it also stressed me out trying to create something that worked, which made me take less photos than I should be.

A few weeks ago, I was able to start a new project with a group of talented photographers, all with the same goal of capturing more of our own lives and children. It is called “Our Forever Neverland“. Our weekly photos will be posted together on our shared blog. There is also a Facebook page you can follow along with. I will keep posting my weekly photos here as well at the end of each month. It helps to hold me accountable:)Without the themes I find that I have a little more freedom to just shoot what matters to me, and nothing matters to me more than this sweet boy I have!

Week 9

Valentine’s Shoot

I know it’s way past Valentine’s Day now, but I had to share these anyway! I had the wonderful opportunity to get together with some fun photographers and our cute kiddos for a fun Valentine’s shoot. We were able to use the fab studio of Jess Bishop. These little models were so sweet and obviously beautiful! These are just a few of my favorites from our fun morning.

February Project 52: Weeks 5-8

I’m not gonna lie, this month has been a little more difficult to keep up with this project. I didn’t think I would be slacking already by week 5! Luckily, I have been able to catch up and hope to stay caught up. I have been blaming the weather for my lack of inspiration. We have been cooped up inside so long that taking a photo with the theme “negative space” indoors seemed less than exciting. Truthfully, I only have myself to blame and have been trying to find new ways to make it work inside our little house. Plus, I’m hoping winter doesn’t stick around too much longer:)

Allison & Randy: 35 weeks pregnant | Utah maternity photographer

Allison and Randy are such a wonderful couple! They are so sweet, and so much fun. You could totally feel the love these two have for each other, and see it every time they looked at one another. Plus, they are fun and adventurous AND team green, which I love. I am so impressed by anyone who can wait to find out the sex of the baby, because I am not one of those people! I can’t wait to meet their sweet babe in just a few weeks! Oh, and I now officially love snowy shoots!
